Educational Guide launch: Roots Around the World

After years of experimenting with kids from the day camp Patro le Prévost, kids from UQAM's CPE and students from FACE who plant their seedlings at the McGill garden across the street, we are proud to seed new green projects in the school environment through this educational guide on urban agriculture "Roots Around the World". For the moment,the French version is available as "Des racines autour du monde" and the English version will be available very soon.

A new garden at UQAM

A new garden was created by students in Environmental Sciences at UQAM. Activities organised at this entirely self-managed garden will allow students to explore urban gardening and social involvement. The garden's produce will go to the red roof church for distribution to the homeless.

Yoga classes at Claire Morissette garden
Every Thursday mornings from 9h to 10h (Design pavillon, 1440 Sanguinet, 6th floor). It’s right before the gardening session. Voluntary donation of about 8$ suggested. Cancelled in case of rain.

Alternatives’ Days 2008 will take place from august 22 to 24th 2008 in Saint-Alphonse-de-Rodriguez. This global solidarity summer school from Alternatives includes workshops, debates, and discussions focusing on political and socioeconomic policy at home and abroad. In attendance will be more than 100 stakeholders from America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Alternatives’ Internships Program for 2008-2009 offers internships funded by the Québec Sans Frontières Program of Québec’s Ministère des relations internationales.

Cuban permaculture workshop

Oliveris is a cuban intern at Alternatives and he is going to give us a very interesting workshop about urban agriculture in Cuba. He’s going to talk about composting, alterning cultures, using bees and a lot more about the garden he works in, in the hart of his living town :Sancti Spiritu.
